Day 16 - Swindon England UK

ImageImage
I'm breaking my silence. My tooth has been really hurting lately and I now face the reality that no dentist is open for the next several days because of the Easter break. But since yesterday afternoon it has seemed to stop hurting. I know from bitter experience that toothaches are something that one cannot ignore and they will go away but I do have my fingers crossed.

It still snows off and on and plenty aligns the roads. We peaked 7 degrees yesterday - about the hottest day we've had so far! This morning we shopped for clothes and a new pair of joggers for me since my old pair met with their death whilst at Edinburgh. We (me in particular) have been harassed by quite a few gypsies wanting money both in Edinburgh and Manchester. They also line the streets kneeling with their cups out hoping for a coin or two.

As we are booking a lot of our accommodation as we go, many hotels are booked solid in Wales and those available only bed two people so two rooms for the four of us becomes very expensive. It also doesn't take long to tire of constantly being on the move, eating out and packing and unpacking bags. We are seeing some remarkable things, meeting interesting people, visiting some great places and the kids have already had some unforgettable experiences along the way but we are looking forward to a couple of days of just staying put. Based on this we decided to travel directly to the Cotswolds and spend some extra time in this lovely part of the world. We were here also in 2010 but we intend to  visit different places as there is so much to see.

We left Manchester at lunchtime driving south and didn't stop until we reached Morton-in-Marsh - a beautiful village in the Gloucestershire area that typifies the Cotswolds where we had afternoon tea. From there we drove a little further to Swindon where we will use as our base for the next four days to explore this magnificent area.

Happy 50th wedding anniversary Pam and John. Hope you are enjoying your cruise.
