I'm soooo sick and it is soooo cold. This flu has a filthy fever attached to it so sleep was almost impossible last night. The only thing I want is to lie in bed all day. But we are heading to Chichester so packing the car, sitting in a car for a couple of hours and unpacking at the other end is far from restful. I'm currently living on paracetamol and flu tablets which are helping a little. K and the kids seem to be ok and at least I'll be over this in a day or two - hopefully.
So with everything packed we arrived in Chichester at about midday. One of the great well-preserved Georgian cities in the UK, Chichester has played a key role of the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. What a very lovely town. We walked down the windy, chilly Main Street with lots of listed buildings and spent an hour at the Chichester Cathedral built almost 1000 years ago which sits on Roman ruins dating back to the 2nd century which are clearly visible. It costs a million pounds a year to keep the cathedral open which must be difficult given they receive no funding from the church or the government.
We then ventured into the Bishop's Palace Garden built on late Roman defenses dating to the 3rd century. It was hard to enjoy as it was so bleak and cold but we did spend a little time there.
According to the receptionist UK experienced not only their coldest Easter Sunday on record but coldest Easter in 100 years so on this note I'm heading for a hot bath - the third today to try and warm up and beat this flu.
