Yesterday was amazing as Finn pointed out and the people we have met are so warm and welcoming. Evitza picked us up in the morning and took us to her place for breakfast. She has a similar view of the ocean as we do.
Tilly swam in the crystal clear water before returning to our accommodation for a short rest. We were then picked up by Evitza again who took us to Mieletza and Peter's for lunch. Lunch is really dinner although served at around four. The wider family were there but as everyone spoke very little English, Evitza was our interpreter once again. Despite this we had a great time and still communicated enough to get the message through.
The kids played with relatives Martyr and Peter, but soon the rest of the kids in the street joined in. Whilst few spoke any English, play was the universal language so we didn't see them for some time. One little boy presented Tilly with a daisy and spoke to her in Croatian. After Evitza interpreted for us he had said, "One day they may meet again and marry," despite only knowing her for an hour. Peter took K and I down to his cellar where we tried some home made wine and whiskey. He has thousands of litres of the stuff including olive oil.
From here we drove to K's Dida's (grandfather's) place that lies abandoned. The view from here was great. The area was very reliant on donkeys and mules for transportation up to the 80's so Evitza showed us where they were housed. The streets are very narrow as they were built with these pack animals in mind but as cars and small tractors have come to replace them, driving in some areas is tight.
Dijana, K's cousin, is a primary school teacher and has offered to take Tilly to school for the day tomorrow. What a great experience this will be for her and she is very excited about this.
