Checking out was interesting today as in limited English, we were told that we should have paid yesterday as the nun that handles the cash was not available. We didn't need to leave until 1pm so we looked around at some markets whilst we waited.
K decided to walk to the railway station using the back streets to avoid people and poor footpaths. What should have been a 15 minute walk turned into nearly an hour - we were not happy chappies.
Italy is a beautiful place and we have enjoyed our stay despite some reservations of how things are done. We are however happy to move on to another country. I think we would all agree that Tuscany and Venice were the nicest places.
It was trains, ferry and automobiles as we caught the hi-speed train to Bologna Central to change for Ancona Station to catch the ferry after hiring a taxi to take us to organise tickets then a bus to the terminal. It's about a three hour trip in total. Our ferry leaves at 8.30pm and arrives in Split at 8.00am. As it is an overnight trip we booked a cabin. There is hardly a soul to be seen on this boat which is a little eerie.
I'm lying in our cabin as I write this on the bottom bunk under Tilly so am feeling a little claustrophobic. Luckily the ocean is relatively calm although there is a storm brewing between the kids.
