Mirabell

It's only 144 klms from Munich to Salzburg Austria so after our Cornflakes in plastic bowls, we commenced the journey. Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart and the Sound of Music (the Von Trapp family). We arrived at 1.30pm and (touchwood) every place we've booked online has been a winner including this one. The owners are very nice, speak English and it is not far from the Old Town. Even Pavarotti stayed here!
After settling in we walked some of the area. You never know who'll you meet. I was walking along a track when three people stopped me seeking help with their camera. They saw me carrying my camera so we began talking. They were from Saudi Arabia but one had lived in Salzburg for the last fourteen years. The conversation was a little staggered but did include kangaroos, a short lesson in using the manual feature of their camera and travel. I was able to sort their camera out after half an hour of chat.
There is a Salzburg ticket which allows us into many attractions and includes bus fares. This seems the go so we'll purchase this and explore more tomorrow.
