Day 21 - Broadstairs Kent England

Travel tip #1 when travelling with children:

Take a power board with at least 4 or 5 plugs to accommodate computers, cameras, iPhones, Nintendos and iPads rather than a single or double converter. This has saved us so much grief. This tip was provided by Murray Webber - thanks Murray!

So with all electronics fully charged and four people on half charge we travelled about two hours to Broadstairs Kent to spend a couple of days with our friend Jane. Jane's folks - Mags and Tony are putting us up. We stayed with them in 2010. They are incredibly welcoming people and we appreciate the accommodation greatly.

This sickness business has now widened with Tilly vomiting four times last night and me once tonight. Til's been hitting the paracetamol and sleeping a lot. Lucky we have a nurse on board. Last night was day three of no sleep - no sleep. Every time I went off I started to choke due to the build up of mucus. So at 1am this morning, I built a contraption made from towels, a backpack full of clothes and additional pillows to create a ramp that would elevate my head but support my neck and upper back. Went off like a light.

But enough of the ills and ailments. K did all the driving yesterday and and at times through heavy snow. It was great to catch up with Jane, Steve and Ben. Three years seems not that long ago. Jane cooked a great dinner before we drove about one kilometer to Mags and Tonys for a bed for the night. In the UK you could never take your kids out of school for three months. Jane wanted her son to take a week out of school for a holiday and whilst permission was given it would be recorded as not approved. The thought is the kids get enough holidays so go during these periods.

For the first time in three weeks we have made no plans for tomorrow but it will be our last full day in the UK.
