Day 32 - Luxembourg City - Luxembourg

Today in Luxembourg

Another day of great weather and again we're in t-shirts. Up early today for the 1 hour and 10 minute bus ride to Luxembourg City Luxembourg. Trier is close to the border so we thought the opportunity to visit worth the effort.
There is a lot of building works in Luxembourg as everything seems to have scaffolding attached to it. It is also a quiet place that comes alive at lunch time. We followed the tourist map by foot exploring the Old Town that is UNESCO World Heritage listed. Some of its history was destroyed during Nazi occupation but it still retains a lot of historical beauty.

One of the highlights was Cornishe: the "most beautiful balcony of Europe" that offers splendid views over the Holy Ghost Citadel. Another interesting sight was the casemates - a network of 23 kilometers of underground tunnels and more than 40000 m2 of bombproof rooms hewn in the rocky foundations of the city.

This is our last day in Trier as we head for Heidelberg tomorrow.
