Day 25 - Paris France

ImageImageImageTo save some Euros, we bought some cereal, bowls, plastic spoons and milk for an instant breakfast. We just empty the bar fridge and put in our milk. Breakfast here is €13 each so €52 in total (about $68) so forget it - it's corn flakes for us!

So after some corn flakes, we started the day walking to the Louvre. In fact we spent a great deal of the day there. In 2010 I wrote: "It is impossible to describe and to fathom how such a place was built let alone decorated. I believe it makes Buckingham Palace insignificant by comparison". The Louvre is about 2.2 kilometers in total length - now that's a big building. Many of its ceilings are covered in intricate artwork and its biggest attraction is Mona Lisa who we said hello too.

We then walked to the Pont de Arts, the famous lovelock bridge where lovers from around the world write their names on a padlock, lock it to the bridges fence then throw the keys into the Seine. Tilly suggested we buy one for our family which we all thought a great idea. There are thousands and thousands of these locks which in themselves is a tourist attraction.

We then walked along the River Seine to Notre Dame and spent sometime inside. It is a very calm beautiful place despite the hundreds of people walking around. Finn and I decided to climb the 422 stairs that bring you to the tower areas but much to my disappointment we were to late - phew!

Our first night in Paris and K's pick for dinner was pizza (Italian), Til's was American and tonight Finn's choice was Sushi (Japanese). Looks like its up to me to order a French one.

There happen to be a post from Newcastle ABC on Facebook about love locks so I commented saying we had done this very thing today. They emailed me asking for my number. I emailed them and sent the pic of the kids with the padlocks. They re emailed me asking to talk to me so I await the call as I write this. The phone is ringing now and I am talking to Aaron Carney on air about our lovelock experience today. That's amazing.
