Day 45 - Venice Italy

ImageImageImageIt's nearly a four hour journey to Venice so it's up early again. The drive to Venice was spectacular with low lying clouds semi shielding snow covered mountains. We were blessed with this view for most of the 3.5 hour trip.
We dropped off the car and caught the water bus to San Zaccaria. We are staying at a 16th Century Monastery operated by the Commissione Sinodale Diaconia della Chiesa Valdese e Metodista (Methodist) in the Castello area. Our window overlooks a canal where the occasional Gondolier passes by. Alcohol is strictly forbidden (bumma), we have to help clean up after breakfast and fold up our blankets when leaving but it is in the best position and cheap. Internet is scant (an hour a day) so pics are limited.

I think anyone who has been to Venice would agree that it is an amazing place and this is K's favorite place.

We had real issues finding the place taking almost an hour and a half and dragging everything we currently own in the search became exhausting. There are tiny streets that quickly become rabbit warrens and the numbering system is all over the place. I used the sat-nav whilst I walked to help find the place.

This is sensory overload. Every corner presents something incredibly beautiful - a man singing in a gondola whilst another plays a guitar, wonderful old buildings sitting on the water and traditional cafes and food shops.

We ventured out to do clothes washing and to briefly explored the area whilst they tumbled dried. We ate alfresco in the square and just soaked up the atmosphere.

We'll explore this wonderful water city further tomorrow.
