The kids and if I'm honest, K and I are hanging for our stay at Tuscany. It's a house where there is no getting up time for breakfast at a certain time. We have promised the kids a day of doing nothing once we get there and a sleep in every day - they're quite excited.
But in the meantime it's up early today for a walk to Rialto, known for its bridge. We were four drops in a vast ocean of people. Italy is meant to be suffering financially but with the staggering amount of tourists spending and with the introduction of an accommodation and restaurant tax last year, one wonders how this can happen.
We met some people from London whilst having lunch at Rialto and had a great conversation in country comparisons. They were leaving Venice today to catch the Orient Express to Prague. I wasn't game to ask the cost but I imagine it's not cheap.
It was nice to return to where we are staying as it is quiet but only minutes from everything. We bought takeaway and sat on some canal steps nearby eating and watching the gondolas go past. Some had singers and musicians playing. Truly magical.
We say goodbye to this most beautiful place tomorrow and head for Verona - but just for one day for then it's on to Tuscany.
