Day 19 - Swindon England UK

ImageImageImageWithout sounding like a hypochondriac, I think I'm falling apart. First there was the bad back then the sore tooth. Now I have the flu. Sore throat, runny nose and constant cough. K has these as well minus the cough. We put it down to the Arctic conditions we encountered yesterday. The kids seem to be ok at the moment - again touch wood.

Sick or not sick, today we travelled to Bath. It was the first sunny day that lasted all day for almost three weeks but temperatures did not exceed 6 degrees. We were here in 2010 but we liked it so much we wanted to return. In 1987 Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site, designated by UNESCO in order to preserve its natural and cultural heritage. The city was first established as a spa town with the Latin name Aquae Sulis by the Romans around AD 60. They built a temple and the famous Roman Baths that exist still work today.

Bath is absolutely beautiful and a must visit if in the Cotswolds. Arriving in bath, we all needed a toilet break and given we had parked in the Bath Cricket Clubs car park it wasn't far to use the clubs disability toilet. K pulled on a cord believing it was the toilet pull when in fact it was the emergency cord. Three people came running, one with a key to access unlock the door. Tilly was standing by and intervened. K emerged a little embarrassed.

Naturally we saw the baths (from outside as the queue was a killer). We walked many klm's around the town mainly along the winding River Avon with its many locks that raise or lower the water levels for boats to pass.
The silliest thing we have done so far was to catch an open topped double decker tour bus given we are sick where we absolutely froze - remember, history comes at a cost!

Arriving back at the motel I was shivering really badly. Tilly needed a hot bath in which I followed to raise my core temperature. K was very cold also but seems to be weathering better than I. Finn seems unaffected. Perhaps it's an age thing - definitely not a male thing.
